  • Research: Visiting archives to advance historic research relevant to race, gender, higher education, and Black women's intellectual history; presentation at national and international conferences
  • Teaching: Create and teach courses including introductions to race and gender studies, research methods, and community service-learning courses
  • Service: Mentor MA and PhD graduate students and advise undergraduate students; assist in the development of curriculum and program development; present research findings to interested local groups, partner with local community agencies for service-learning class; participate in college and university level program development and institution building

Supervised Brown students who coordinated programs that partnered with Providence middle and high schools and local community centers; Focus: academic and community work around issues of access, cultural identity, and the relevance of history to public service work; Duties: advise, mentor, and teach college students who work in communities to mentor children and provide students with the tools to effectively support younger children in their quest for intellectual, emotional, and economic advancement, plan and coordinate workshops, lecture, and supervise budgets. 

While at Brown, I found many interesting programs such as the Africana Studies Departmentand the Sarah Doyle Women's Center. Also, there were great opportunities for students to participate in the Brown -- Tougaloo Exchange Programand the Rites and Reason Theater
